I drew little ghosts in red and white ink across the country
in hopes that they’d guide me home
when I found my way back it was all an apparition to begin with
one year passed, I met a dead stare at three in the morning
i met that cold stare at 3am
swing swing swing of the pendulum beneath my grip
and a three word strangle hold that gripped my bending spine
and contorted my figure, those fiendish little ghosts, guardian specters
parking meters, delineations, and basement walls were all given a voice
they surrounded me and, enshrouding my focus,
kept me from seeing what was right in front of me
those three words were blinding clarity and revealed diverging lines
the terrible sense, cursed and protected
one path was a blindfold, the other an incredible weight
but it no longer rests on my shoulders, I choose to speak in tongues
